Whiplash

Once again I realize that the best sign to recognize a really outstanding movie is the moment when you watch it for the nth time and you’re still surprised of how good it truly is.

Last Week Tonight

Rating: 4.5

I’d always loved his segments but I didn’t expect John Oliver to fill Jon Stewart’s enormous shoes in such a brilliant, hilarious, satisfying and relevant way this quickly, hosting a weekly show. (Sorry, Trevor Noah).

(Not the best example by far, but a good one, which made me want to write this post.)

And of course there’s this:

Jurassic World

Rating: 1.5

What a steaming pile of Triceratops crap! Would’ve worked better as a rom-com with Pratt and Howard just flirting for 2 hrs. And definitely needed some Goldblum.

1st half very intriguing. 2nd half not so much. 3rd half – don’t be silly. Little bit on the preachy side but visually amicable. I was entertained and left content mainly thanks to the fact that, though Clooney was as clooney as Clooney gets, he wasn’t even the most charming character in it. (Chapeau, Raffey Cassidy.)
